Air Fryer Sizes Explained: Which Quart Capacity Do You Need?
Air fryer sizes are quoted in quarts, and that single number causes most buying mistakes. Too small, and dinner cooks in three batches. Too big, and the machine eats your counter and dries out small portions. This guide explains what the quart number really measures and how to match it to your household.
What the quart number actually means
The quart figure is the volume of the cooking basket or chamber, usually measured to the rim. It is not the amount of food you should put in. Air has to circulate around every piece, so the usable cooking layer is much less than the full volume. As a rough rule, a basket fries well when food sits in a single, loose layer — about half full at most.
